About Radhanath Swami Yatras

Radhanath swami was born in Chicago in 1950. In his teens he set out to wander the world on a spiritual quest with a few friends, hitchhiking from America to Europe and all the way through the Middle East into India. Living as a wandering mendicant Radhanath Swami travelled across the country meeting many mystic yogis, sadhus and rishis, all the while absorbing like a sponge, the essence of their teachings. In a turn of events he stumbled into the Holy land of Mathura which in turn led him to Vrindavan.

Eagerly learning about the all inclusive path of bhakti from the saints of Vrindavan Radhanath Swami met and surrendered his life to his guru His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanata Swami Prabhupada. But his visa having expired, soon Radhanath Swami had to return to America.  After serving for some years at New Vrindavan in West Virginia, Radhanath Swami came back to India to share the teachings of his spiritual master and since around 1986, he has been dynamically leading an active community of devotees at Mumbai and also developing spiritual centers in different parts of Maharashtra and beyond.

Radhanath swami has been taking devotees from the community at Mumbai (also from other places like Pune, Nigdi, Nasik, even as far as America, Europe and Russia) to holy places all over India in the month of kartik every year. The places include Vrindavan, Mayapur, Jagannath Puri, Dwarka, holy places in South India and many more. Devotees find the yatras with Radhanath Swami so rejuvenating and inspiring that the number of attendees has increased from only 20 devotees in the year 1986 to 4500 in the year 2010.

So the descriptions presented here are directly from the talks given by Radhanath swami. The website is to help devotees taste and share the nectar drops of the description of the pastimes of the lord in these holy places.
