Radhanath Swami on Appearance of Lord Krishna

Appearance of Lord Krishna

One day Nanda and Yashoda simultaneously had a vision where they saw a beautiful child being carried by a celestial woman from the heart of Nanda to the heart of Yashoda. Then that celestial lady, the Yogamaya potency, entered into the womb of Yashoda and from that day Yashoda mayi manifested symptoms of pregnancy. Meanwhile in the seventh month of her pregnancy, Rohini had a miscarriage. But Yogamaya informed that she had transferred the child from Devaki’s womb to Rohini. According to Jiva Goswami, Rohini was pregnant for 14 months just so that Balarama would be about the same age as Krishna and could perform pastimes together.

On the full moon night in the month of sravana, Sri Balaramaji was born. And on the eighth day of the month of bhadra, Lord Krishna appeared. When Krishna appeared from the heart of Yashoda mayi, by the mystical potency of Yogamaya, she felt so tired that she didn’t know what was happening. Meanwhile, exactly at the same time in Mathura, Lord Narayana emerged from the womb of Devaki. Vasudeva and Devaki offered their prayers of devotion in parental affection. Out of fear of Kamsa they appealed to the Lord to disguise Himself. Just as they made this prayer, Yogamaya carried Yashoda nandana Krishna from Gokul to Mathura, just like the wind carries the pollen of a flower. Without anyone knowing what was happening, the four- armed Vasudev merged into the two-armed form of Krishna, the son of Yashoda.
