Radhanath Swami on Jiva’s training

Jiva's Training

Nityananda Prabhu knowing the inner most heart of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, understood the mission of Jiva Goswami. He was going to be empowered to be the greatest philosopher and scholar of spiritual philosophy and knowledge the world has ever seen. He sent him to Varanasi to study under Madhusudhan Vacaspati, the disciple of Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya. Jiva thoroughly learned the Vedic scriptures according to the conclusions of bhakti and became a great scholar. Because of his character, devotional qualities and humility, his fame spread throughout India.

After completing his studies when Jiva Gosvami came to Vrindavan, Sanatana Goswami offered him to Rupa Goswami. Rupa Goswami wanted to teach the world through his own disciple the principle of pridelessness. For almost a year, Jiva Goswami offered the most menial services in the mood of a servant of the servant. On the path of Bhakti, where there is love, there is no question of high or low according to relative positions. Kolavecha Sridhar wasn’t well educated. He was just a simple banana leaves seller and no body had ever heard of him. But after Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu transformed the heart of Chand Kazi, He went to Kolavecha’s house and drank the water from his beaten old iron pot, just to show the world that the greatest of all wealth is devotion.
